Doing Valentines day right: Without breaking hearts, your budget or your diet

We're coming into the last stretch before one of the most expensive, chocolate-covered holiday of the year.

If the idea of Valentine's Day makes you cringe because you're either not looking forward to trying to find the "best date idea", spending all the money in your wallet or eating all the chocolate in that heart-shaped box, then keep scrolling. This is EXACTLY what you need to get through Valentine's Day this year.

Low-cost fitness dates that will make you look romantic and won't cost you more than a date at Maggiano's:

1. Get Adventurous.

This doesn't mean try another restaurant or a different number for takeout. Go outside! Do a little research beforehand and look up hiking trails, rock climbing offers, skiing in the mountains, biking through the woods or by the ocean, or just be spontaneous and go on an adventure! Finish the day with a nice couple massage or spa treatment that both of you will enjoy, no matter how sore you are.

2. Make it competitive.

If you and your partner like a challenge, getting into some healthy competition between the two of you or grab another couple and make it a battle of the sexes is the perfect idea for this Valentine's Day. You can play some sports: like tennis, bowling, racquetball or even some Wii fitness games. Get creative with the winning prize and you'll have an amazing day.

3. Partner yoga, a nice jog or walk at Sunset.

If you are lucky enough to find a partner yoga class on the beach at sunset, then you've struck gold at a perfectly fit and romantic date!

4. Go back to the basics.

Go dancing! Whether it's personal dance lessons, or just going to the local club, dancing is a great way to let loose, exercise, feel close to your partner, and most importantly: HAVE FUN.

Worried about your diet? Here is a great Valentine tasty alternative to leave you feeling happy, healthy and hearty:
